My three year old English Bull Terrier was plagued with chronic yeast infections. His manifested in his ears, feet, skin folds, face and genitals.

The treatment the vet gave was an antibiotic, which causes yeast infections, and ketaconazol (sp). It worked briefly, but the infection always returned.

I changed his diet from Pedigree to Innova Evo red meat formula. Innova Evo is high in protien, low in carbs and has no grain at all. Dogs do not need cereal in their diet.

I have been giving him four tablespoons of coconut oil a day mixed in all natural yogurt, in two seperate feedings. I also mix in a half teaspoon of Solgar Multi Acidophilus Powder in the yogurt mix. The caprylic acid in the coconut oil kills yeast. The coconut oil is only necessary for about a month. It will cause your dog to purge the yeast. Your dog may become ill as the fungus dies off as toxins are released into the body. That is normal. Should it get to be too bad stop the use of coconut oil for a couple days.

I have stuck to that regimen for two weeks and his redness and itching are almost gone. I will continue to giv him probiotics by way of the powder and yogurt forever. Hope this helps.

Thank you for this topic. I was searching for info and found this site. My Lab gets horrible yeast infections in his ear every month. It seems like I am at the vet more with him than my kids need to see a doctor.

I am going tot try this vinegar recipe and see how well it works for me.
