7 Top Tips To Potty Train Puppy Quickly

Dog owners will have to potty train puppy as part of a housebreaking process. This is not a hard task and should be handled in a positive manner. Make sure you take your puppy out to potty often, they have tiny bladders and are unable to hold it for extended periods.

Here are a few great tips to potty train puppy.

1. Begin by setting up a schedule and stick to it. Your puppy needs to have a bedtime and wake time, both times they should be give the opportunity to go out to potty.

2.Your pup needs to have a regular feeding schedule. Most puppies eat 3-4 times a day. Try to keep to the same time, and remember to take out after meals.

3. One of the best tips to potty train puppy is to kennel train them. This will help to speed up the process. Dogs are den animals and will not soil their bedding if given plenty of opportunity to potty elsewhere.

4. Anytime puppy comes out of the kennel, take outside to a designated spot in the yard and use a leash.

5. After playing about 15 minutes, take them out to potty.

6. About 20 minutes after puppy drinks water take them out and give them the chance to relieve themselves.

7. Spend as much time with your puppy as possible. The more time you spend with them, the faster they will learn.

What happens if you take her out and she doesn’t go? Bring her back inside, place her in her crate, close the door and wait 10-15 minutes. Then try taking her out again and if she doesn’t go again, repeat (they usually have it after the first time). When you potty train puppy, always try to remember to praise them for doing the right thing.

If your puppy has an accident and you don’t catch her, just clean it up, you made a mistake by not watching puppy close enough. Don’t let them have free rein of the house. If you happen to catch them in the act. Great. Now you can teach them that going potty in the house is not acceptable. Firmly say no and pick up midstream and take them outside to the designated area. Then praise once they have finished the job. Hitting during potty train puppy can cause them to become frightened. Once the have become frightened they will start to hide when they need to go potty so that you are not displeased. They don’t want to get in trouble or upset you in any way.
